On Friday 22nd August, Blackburn’s Neighbourhood Policing Team joined forces with Lancashire Constabulary Specials, Local Authority Civil Enforcement Officers, and a local councillor to carry out a large-scale parking enforcement operation on Whalley Range and surrounding streets.
The initiative followed complaints raised at a recent community meeting, where residents voiced frustration over persistent illegal parking and reckless driving in the area.
During the day of action, over 70 fixed penalty notices were issued for vehicles parked illegally. Officers also handed out 15 tickets to drivers caught using mobile phones behind the wheel or failing to wear seat belts — including instances where children were not properly restrained.
Police stressed that road safety remains a top priority, pointing out that Whalley Range is a busy area with high pedestrian footfall and popular businesses, making safe driving and parking essential for the community.
